Large quantities of unlicensed medicines have actually been taken by Department of during a search of a home in Glengormley.

A man was spoken with by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medicines by means of the internet.

The 47-year-old was likewise questioned about other medication offenses.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, said: "It is important that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be unsafe.

"These kinds of products being sold, usually online, have undergone no quality control and there can be no guarantee about their security.

"You simply do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More importantly, you do not know the effect drugs like this might have on your health."
